Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
